Miriam
(nicknamed Miffy) was born at Wonthaggi Hospital on 6 March 1980. Josh and Marnie,
10 and 8 at the time, immediately took over her social calendar and educated her
in all the important things in life... their own little action figure and doll combined.
What they didn't count on was a little girl with a mind of her own and a very different
view of the world.
That uniqueness has continued into adulthood, thankfully. Miriam is an entrepreneur.
She completed a New Enterprise Incentive Scheme program in 2003, opening her own
mobile beauty therapy business, then expanding, in January 2004, into children's
fantasy parties. She employs some of her siblings and nieces part time. In August
2004 she opened a salon in Chapel Street, Prahran – the fashion capital and home
of "cool" of Australia.
By the start of 2006, the strain of running two time-intensive businesses had soured
any pleasure gained from them, so Miriam decided to explore other options. She's
now a co-ordinator with Camp Australia, managing the out-of-school programs at Hartwell
Primary School, winning awards, being featured on television and adored by the scores
of youngsters involved in the programs, as well as by her support team.
She still maintains her beauty therapy business as a mobile service once again.
The biggest change in Miriam's life occurred on Saturday 16 September 2006,
when she married Craig Ellis, her boyfriend of exactly eleven years (they
married on their anniversary). You can view some of the wedding photos here.
